The name responsible for the ongoing feud for control of the clan.
As outined in the family code, the bloodline must continue to grow even stronger and eliminate all those who are weak.
The Goketsuji Clan is currently the 3rd wealthiest family in the world. As a result, there are many who seek control the clan and the family fortune.
Some train endlessly building up their strength, others polish up their fighting skills with experience, and still others concentrate on their fighting spirit, all for control of the clan.
Because there were so many fighters vying for control of the clan Oshima, the 3rd Goketsuji Leader, declared the following to all.
The clan will hold a fighting tournament every 5 years.
The winner of this "test of strength" tournament will assume immediate control of the Goketsuji clan until the next tournament, at which time seat for control will be open once again. Any member with blood ties to the clan may enter.

Otane Goketsuji
Due to her unconquerable spirit, Otane has become superhuman. She is both mysterious and secretive so you never know what she may be up to.
Otane had a sad childhood where she was constantly berated and abused by her older sister Oume and due to her relative weakness her mother didn't pay much attention to her.
Her older sister seemed to hate her... one day, at the age of 6 years, while strolling in the forest, Oume buried Otane alive. Fortunately an old farmer that was near the place heard Otane crying and saved her. Oume, after have seen her attempt to get rid of her younger sister foiled, turned more aggressive.
Finally, tired of the Oume's abuse and the indifference of her mother, Otane decided to leave home at the age of 15 with only one thing on mind: Training endlessly, so that one day she will prove that she is a worthy representative of the Gouketsuji clan.
Otane steals her opponent's life energy to become young again. In the past she had a heart of gold capable of pure and undying love. Now she uses this as a very powerful weapon to destroy her enemies. Unfortunately she can only stay young for 10 seconds.

Oume Goketsuji
She is superhuman. In any case, she is scary. To master her mysterious attacks she confined herself to the mountains. Moreover, she has an eerie and unearthly presence about her and it is rumored that she can practically turn her opponents to stone just by gazing into their eyes.
Oume has the ability to steal the vital energy from her enemies to become young again. Oume had a great desire for power since she was a little girl and her strength and ability made her the favorite daughter of her mother Oshima. Her cute and innocent appearance hide her cruel personality and over time, she became an evil woman, and is willing to destroy even her own family to get what she wants.

Reiji is very straight forward and honest and is the ultimate training fanatic. He does not do well with minute details, but excels at physical strength matches. He works part-time for a construction company to exert his excess energy.

Shinjuro Goketsuji
A long time ago there was a samurai of the Edo era feared for his skill with the sword. He was a true sword master and fairly popular among ladies. His name was Jubei, and many tales have been told about him. He left many descendants, but only one was frighteningly strong like him...
During his training, he fell in love with a girl, and eventually they had a son, and he decided to name him Shinjuro. Jubei continued his training journey, but before he left, told to the mother of his son that only if the boy becomes a strong man would be worthy to wear his last name.
Shinjurofs mother unable to give him a last name, and looked for someone who would help her to train Shinjuro to turn him into a fearsome warrior.
The time went by and Shinjuro became a skillful samurai. But sadly his mother died, and he began to look for his father, though only found rumors that he was dead. As the time went by, legends about his adventures could be heard all around Japan, which made him feel very proud about his achievements, so he continued traveling and training to become the strongest warrior in Japan.
During his journey he fell in love with Okiko Sasaki, a girl relative to a prominent samurai. He married her and had a happy life, being eventually blessed with the arrival of eight children.
At the age of 69 years old, during the change of the Edo era to the Meiji era, Shinjuro was allowed to establish a last name for his family: gThose of our clan inherit the fighting spirit of our bloodline. I must think of a last name loaded with significance.h
